Unforgettable
Hole #16 through #18 at Sandpines are the finishing touches to a memorable outing. These holes offer scenic rewards as well as a fun yet challenging finish. Water can come into play on each hole to varying degrees. Wind direction dictates which combination is into or down wind. During the summer months #16, a short par 4, and #18, a par 5 that wraps itself completely around a lake are directly down wind giving the golfer a chance for some finishing hole heroics. #17, by the same token, can have you wondering whether to use as many as three clubs more to compensate for wind directly in your face.
Tester
Day in and day out hole #5 probably draws the most angst out of a golfer during his round. A medium to long par 3 over water that in most geographic locations would not cause one to blink, but by the nature of the winds associated with the Oregon Coast, this hole will leave you guessing. The green has a backdrop of large Coastal Pines that tend to leave the flag limp on the stick. But don't let that fool you. The key is the evidence of wind on the water surface and the treetops. More balls have found their watery grave as a result of not enough club being selected. Better to be long and dry, than short and wet.
Directions
Highway 126 west from Eugene to Florence, north on Hwy 101 to 35th St. West on 35th approx. ½ mile to the entrance. Sandpines is on the right. |

Sandpines combines two significant golf course styles in one venue. While the term links is found in the name, you can be assured that you will be playing golf on a course that hints back to the origins of game played in Scotland centuries ago. You will find lush fairways amidst towering Pines and lakes reminiscent of the Carolinas or the Monterey Peninsula. This course is user friendly and will provide golfers of all levels with unique beauty, peaceful surroundings and rewarding test of golf.

| Why should we play golf? -
Pat Aiken
Golf is a game of humility. To truly enjoy the game, a player needs to come to the realization that it is a test of one's patience and emotions as well as one's physical skills. Whether you compete with a regular group or in regional competitions, the game of golf brings your inner strengths to the surface. When life is going well, golf tends to take on effortless charms and the door to enjoyment swings open. On the other hand, when golf becomes a struggle, it can bore deep into one's psyche, nourishing doubt instead of confidence. Golf is at it's best when all of the senses are aware of their surroundings. By the very nature of the game, it will always lend itself to the true reason why we play, because it is FUN!
