Unforgettable

Although we have more than one memorable hole #7 has five tees all elevated from the highest point of the course, which gives you a view of the entire valley. Playing 462 yards from the back tee, this hole drops down to a fairway with bunkers that play havoc on the left and O.B. on the right. The fairway narrows down the further you hit it. The fairway wraps around a hill that goes all the way to a large 2-tiered green that is partially hidden if you are on the left side of the fairway.

Tester

Hole #3 is a par 5 measuring only 492 from the back tees, but there is trouble most of the way on both sides. This dogleg right has water in the left and right with one of those strategically placed trees on the corner. The yardage is tempting to go for the green in two but our advice is to play it safe and make it a three shot hole.

Directions

From I-5 north or south take exit 108 (approx. 18 miles south of Roseburg). This brings you to downtown Myrtle Creek. Go through the only traffic light, cross the small bridge and make an immediate left out to Riverside Drive. Go ¾ of a mile to Neal Lane. Turn right and continue 3 blocks to Fairway Drive. Turn left to course.

Myrtle Creek has beautiful rolling fairways with a wide variety of green shapes and sizes. With lots of elevation changes you can see the entire valley from parts of the course. It shows a good use of land to make fairways fit nicely into the shape of the terrain. Myrtle Creek has good mounding, strategically placed trees and a beautiful use of small streams and ponds.

What ticks you off? - Keith Johnson

It seems like there are more and more divots being left unrepaired lately. Golfers need to realize just how quickly these divots grow right back and what kind of damage is done when they are not replaced right away. Just a sprinkle of sand and seed mix will repair a divot in a matter of seconds and add beauty and playability for all golfers to enjoy.
