WINTER GOLF

What’s different about winter golf than summer golf?

The difference is that it’s cold in the winter! You know what if you can handle the cold go play! Just accept that 1; the ball won’t travel as far 2; your body won’t work as well as it does in the desert in 90% weather 3; your shoes are going to get muddy (make sure you tip your locker room attendant). Here’s my top 10 list of things to do to be prepared for winter golf.

10. Make sure you tuck your pants into your socks.

9. Make sure if you tuck your pants into your socks that they’re an obnoxiously bright color. (tube socks optional)

8. Wear only bright obnoxious colored rain gear.

7. Be sure to wear those rubber boots with spikes on them. (They’re available in the cowboy boot look also) These also give you a good excuse when you shoot a bad round.

6. Be sure to complain a lot about the weather if you hit an errant shot. (Especially if it strikes another player)

5. Make sure you tuck your pants into your socks.

4. Make sure if you play with a cigar, you keep it dry!

3. Take your wet shoes out of your trunk so the fumes don’t cause you to pass out when you open it in two weeks.

2. Don’t play if it’s raining.

And the #1 thing to do to be prepared for winter golf is, if you take a cart, make sure you drive with your umbrella open in front of you so you can’t see where the heck you’re going!!!!!

But seriously, playing winter golf can be enjoyable if you’re prepared with the proper foul weather gear and attitude. This is a great time to work on your ¾ swing and your mental attitude. Take out two more clubs than you think (especially up here in the Pacific Northwest) and have fun…
