Unforgettable

The par 3 #7 plays 178 yards. With water guarding the front and left side of the green there's not much bail out. If you do bail to the right you'll find a large sand bunker to grab your ball. The hole is picturesque with a backdrop of a beautiful lake.

Tester

Hole #3 from the back tee is long and difficult. There's plenty of trouble right from the start with a huge bunker guarding the left side of the fairway. Once you approach the green you'll find it is surrounded by bunkers as well.

Directions

From I-5 N & S take exit 307. Go west on Marine Drive to the Expo Center. Turn left at the end of the Expo Center building. The golf course is ¼ mile down the road on the right. From downtown Portland or just heading north on I-5, take the 306B Delta Park/Expo Center exit. At stop sign go left under the freeway. At the dead end turn right and follow signs to Heron Lakes.

The Green-back golf course is typical of the Pacific Northwest. With interspersed forests and eight holes with water, you'll find it a challenge yet not overly difficult. The greens are fairly large and the fairways wide which will enable even the higher handicapper to have an enjoyable round of golf.

What club could help golfers on your courses? - Byron Wood

My advice is to buy a lob wedge and take a lesson from your PGA Pro to learn how to use it. Have your clubs checked every few months to see if the loft and lies are where they should be. If you haven't been fitted correctly, see your Professional who is trained in club fitting, preferably outdoors where you can see the flight of the ball.
