Unforgettable

Hole #17 is a medium to long par 3. This hole is tougher than it looks. The tee shot is hit from a slightly elevated tee with the hole playing downhill. The green is tricky to hit with it being partially blind from the tee. If you hit the green make sure you're on the low side of the hole, this green slopes severely from right to left. Tougher than it looks!

Tester

The 11th hole is one to be on the lookout for. The tee shot must maneuver around a very large tree into a very undulating fairway. Once you find the fairway the second shot is hit into a green that is very narrow and moderately undulating. This hole doesn't play very long but there is plenty of trouble.

Directions

Heading north on I-5 take exit 306-A (Columbia Blvd.) Proceed east for 4 miles to course on the left. Heading south on I-5 take exit #307 (MLK Jr. Blvd.). Follow MLK Jr. Blvd. east for 2 miles to Columbia Blvd. Proceed east on Columbia Blvd. for 3.5 miles to course on the left.

Colwood National is not an overly long golf course but offers mountain views, plenty of trees and a park-like setting. For the long hitter it's a perfect course to hone short iron skills and for the short hitter it's great for getting the feel for shooting lower than their average. With generous landing areas and great greens, Colwood National is a pleasure to play.

How can I be more consistent on my tee shots on par 4's and 5's? - Kevin Winston

All golfers want length off the tee, and are often willing to sacrifice accuracy. The driver may give golfers ten or twenty more yards once in a while, but that occasional length on one or two holes a round isn't worth the added strokes when they add up the score card. Try playing a round or two with the driver out of the bag and see what happens. You'll find you will probably carry the ball farther with a lot more accuracy. It's a lot easier to hit greens from the fairways than the trees!
